About the Arab Image Foundation
The Arab Image Foundation (AIF) is dedicated to the understanding of photography and to the practices of collecting, preserving and sharing images. It is committed to studying and exploring issues of origin, authorship and ownership of images, as artists, scholars and the general public interrogate and make use of its collections. Through its various programs in relation to photographic archives, the AIF aims to address and engage in larger questions related to the
poetics and politics of our Times.

Role of the Digitization Officer
The Digitization Officer will work under the supervision of the AIF Collection Manager. Tasks will include but are not restricted to:
- Digitizing a variety of photographic material, such as prints, film negatives, glass plates and related objects, following the AIF's imaging guidelines
- Color-correcting and soft-proofing the digitized photographs
- Adding metadata, documentation and keywords to the digitized photographs on the AIF database
- Preparing image files for upcoming projects
- Maintaining the AIF digital archive
- Participating in internal working groups as needed

Availability
The position is available from September 1, 2016 and is offered on a full-time or part-time basis.

Profile
The ideal candidate should have an academic background or professional experience in digital photography, graphic design, photo retouching, digital preservation or related fields. Experience in graphics editing software, especially Adobe Photoshop, is required, along with a general understanding of color management, digital image processing and related file formats. Applicants must be meticulous, with good manual skills, and able to work autonomously and as part of a team. Applicants must be eligible to work in Lebanon.

The Arab Image Foundation is hiring a Managing Director

The Arab image Foundation is looking for an experienced Managing Director, who will work hand in hand with the Board of Directors and the staff, leading and developing the organization.

About the AIF:
The Arab Image Foundation (AIF) is dedicated to the understanding of photography and to the practices of collecting, preserving and sharing images. It is committed to studying and exploring issues of origin, authorship and ownership of images, as artists, scholars and the general public interrogate and make use of its collections. Through its various programs in relation to photographic archives, the AIF aims to address and engage in larger questions related to the poetics and politics of our Times.   

Major responsibilities include:

- Managing the AIF, its programs and finances
- Fundraising and development
- Governance (working closely with the Board of Directors)
- Following up on administrative tasks and legal matters
- Human resources

Profile:
Managerial experience in a cultural or art organization is required. Applicants should also demonstrate creativity, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in English and Arabic is a must.

Internships

The Arab Image Foundation (AIF) offers internships for students and recent graduates during the summer and throughout the academic year. Our internships provide the opportunity to learn about the operations of a nonprofit organization and to work in different fields related to the foundation’s mission and activities. Besides gaining invaluable experience at an outstanding cultural institution with a unique collection of vernacular photography, our interns benefit from a rewarding work environment, where they can learn and grow. As part of a highly motivated team, our interns contribute to ongoing projects and get the chance to get a close insight in the AIF collection an its programs.

We are looking for interns to work for three to six months on preservation, digitization and documentation.  Our internships provide the opportunity to learn about the operations of a non-profit organization and to work in different fields related to the foundation’s mission and activities. 

The internship program, open to both part-time and full-time candidates, is an excellent opportunity for students and recent graduates with an interest in photography, contemporary art, preservation and archival practices. We seek to tailor internships according to applicants' experience and interests.
