The Arab Image Foundation is seeking an experienced communications coordinator to develop and execute its new communication strategy and tone, including the launch of a new online platform. The coordinator will interact with the team and the members of the foundation, engage the AIF’s public and new publics in various ways, and establish productive relationships with the media.

The ideal candidate should have experience in the communications sector, skills in graphic design and web administration, as well as excellent written and verbal communications skills in Arabic and English.

Applicants must be able to work autonomously as well as in a team, and should have a personal interest in image and/or archiving practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible to develop a strategy of communication for the AIF and its activities, internally and externally
  • Writing, editing, and translating press releases, newsletters and other communication texts (ideally in English and Arabic)
  • Executing communications on social media
  • Updating and creating content on the new AIF Online Platform
  • Handling day-to-day relationship with journalists, media, and other queries from the public, and compile the AIF press book
  • Maintaining communications-related contact lists
  • Improving internal communication
  • Engaging with visitors to the foundation
  • Other related tasks


  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in communications or marketing, or related fields
  • Fluency in English and Arabic and strong written and oral communication skills. Fluency in French is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop, social media platforms, and website administration.



The position is part-time (3 days / week) and is available from a start date of January 14, 2019. Candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

The Arab Image Foundation (AIF) offers internships for students and recent graduates during the summer and throughout the academic year. Our internships provide the opportunity to learn about the operations of a nonprofit organization and to work in different fields related to the foundation’s mission and activities. Besides gaining invaluable experience at an outstanding cultural institution with a unique collection of vernacular photography, our interns benefit from a rewarding work environment, where they can learn and grow. As part of a highly motivated team, our interns contribute to ongoing projects and get the chance to get a close insight on the AIF collection and its programs.

We are looking for interns to work for three to six months on preservation, digitization anddocumentation.  Our internships provide the opportunity to learn about the operations of a non-profit organization and to work in different fields related to the foundation’s mission and activities. 

The internship program, open to both part-time and full-time candidates, is an excellent opportunity for students and recent graduates with an interest in photography, contemporary art, preservation and archival practices. We seek to tailor internships according to applicants' experience and interests.
